    Dear AAC Member:

We have been intensely focused on what the economic effects that the COVID19 virus will have on the acupuncture profession. AAC, this week, has lead an effort to put together a united coalition of the acupuncture profession, including the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the American Society of Acupuncturists,  the Council of Colleges for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and of course the AAC. It was heartening to see the entire acupuncture profession unite and speak with a single voice. We are very grateful for their unified support.

In the attached letter, AAC's Chairman, Mike Schroeder laid out the profession's concerns. He urged that any federal financial support and loans should help not only acupuncturists who are employees, but also those that are independent business people and independent contractors. He also urged that acupuncturists who serve in triage roles be temporarily exempt from state scope of practice laws and that Good Samaritan laws protect such acupuncturists from law suits for COVID19 treatment.

I have said before that we will get through this challenge by working together. This is an example of us doing just that!

    Please be healthy and safe,

    Marilyn Allen, Director
